Alexey Overchuk, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, comparing Armenia-EAEU and Armenia-EU trade turnover, noted that Yerevan's trade with the EU is several times smaller than with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
This is reported by TASS, quoting the statement of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. "Fresh statistics for 11 months have arrived: the trade turnover between Russia and Armenia is 11.6 billion dollars, with the Eurasian Economic Union, about 12 billion dollars.
At the same time, trade with the EU is significantly lower and declining. This is what the economy and reality are saying," said Overchuk, commenting on the approval of the draft decision on starting the EU membership process by the RA government.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his opinion that the initiators of the draft law on starting the process of joining the European Union understand very well that joining the EU is a very hypothetical thing and, of course, they do not want to lose the economic benefits and advantages they have, being a member of the EAEU.
