Head of EU diplomacy, Kaya Kalas, held talks with Recep Erdogan ahead of the NATO summit.
"Turkey is a key partner in the fields of security, migration and energy, as well as a candidate country for EU membership. It was a pleasure to talk with President Erdogan today about the further strengthening of EU-Turkey relations and the importance of neighborly relations.
We also discussed Russia's war against Ukraine, conflicts in the Middle East and preparations for the NATO summit in Ankara. Turkey makes a significant contribution to the defense of NATO's Eastern wing," the head of EU diplomacy wrote in X after the meeting with the Turkish president in Ankara.
