The Austrian government will be headed by a new chancellor after the resignation of the current head of government, Karl Nehamer. This was announced by the president of the republic Alexander Van der Bellen, his words were broadcast by Austria Presse-Agentur.
"After Karl Nehamer leaves his post, Austria will have a new chancellor during the transition period, he will take up his duties next week," said the head of state.
The president did not provide additional details regarding the candidacy of the new chancellor.
Earlier, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehamer announced his resignation following the failure of negotiations to form a government after the elections held last September.
