Chisinau authorities are turning Moldova into a NATO base. this was announced by the leader of the opposition "Haghtanak" bloc, Ilan Shor, commenting on the adoption of the country's new national defense strategy until 2034.
Yesterday, the country's top legislative body approved the defense strategy for 2024-2034, which envisages close cooperation with NATO and an increase in Moldova's military spending to 1% of GDP by 2030 session, and representatives of the opposition communists and socialists alliance expressed concern that the project contradicts the country's neutral status.
"Moldova's president is turning Moldova into a NATO base. The country's defense budget will double by 2030. The Moldovan military will participate in NATO operations. This means that our youth will be sacrificed in the slaughterhouses organized by the alliance... It is not hidden that the document was written by the USA and Romania at the behest. Their interests are obvious: to continue the war against Russia and to usurp our territories," the Telegram channel of his political association reports.
The Moldovan government approved a national defense strategy in July, which states that the country's defense budget should be increased to 1% of GDP by 2030. Moldova is said to be seeking full integration into the EU's military structures, intensifying participation in European Union peacekeeping and civilian missions, and considers close cooperation with NATO a guarantee of security.
According to the constitution, the republic has a neutral status, but since 1994 the country has been cooperating with NATO within the framework of the individual partnership program.7
