Iranian airlines have canceled all flights to Syria until January 22, as air traffic between the two countries has not been agreed with the new authorities in Damascus. As TASS agency informs, Hossein Pourfarzane, the head of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization, announced this.

"Currently, flights to Syria are banned until January 22, but there are no restrictions regarding Lebanon," Pourfarzane said.

As the official noted, in order to resume air traffic, it is necessary to obtain permission from the other country. The situation is the same in the case of Egypt. "The authorities of the two countries should make a joint statement that we will be able to carry out flights from Iran to Egypt and vice versa," he added.

At the end of November, the armed opposition groups launched a large-scale attack against the positions of the Syrian army.

On December 8, they entered Damascus, Bashar al-Assad left the position of the president of Syria and left the country, receiving asylum in Moscow. On December 10, Mohammed al-Bashir, who headed the so-called Salvation Government in Idlib province, announced his appointment as the head of the cabinet of ministers of the transitional period of Syria. the transition period will last until March 1, 2025.
