The European Union intends to present the updated strategy on Syria in the near future. This was announced by the head of the EU foreign policy service Kaya Callas, speaking at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
According to him, the EU countries agreed on the main components of the strategy to ensure "Syria's stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity". "Yesterday, EU foreign ministers reaffirmed these principles and supported the proposal to quickly develop new approaches to Syria," he said.
The EU, said Callas, has started preparing for the "Conference on the Future of Syria" in Brussels.In late November, armed opposition groups launched a large-scale attack on Syrian army positions.
