Tbilisi police arrested 107 people, 10 law enforcement officers were injured, one of them received burns and is in the hospital during the protest in Rustaveli Avenue in the center of the city.
The Georgian platform of the Sputnik agency reports this, referring to the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The opposition, their activists and ordinary citizens are protesting against the decision of the Georgian authorities on November 28 to remove from the agenda the opening of negotiations on the country's accession to the European Union until 2028. It is reported that the security forces forced the protesters to retreat to the Rustaveli metro station and started detaining them.
"Despite the many alarms of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the action on Rustaveli Avenue, near the parliament building, has more than once gone beyond the limits set by the law on "Meetings and Demonstrations", the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, 107 protesters were detained administratively for petty hooliganism and disobeying police orders.
"Persons on Rustaveli Avenue threw various things, stones, pyrotechnics, glass bottles and iron objects at the law enforcement officers," the report says.
It is noted that since early morning in Rustaveli, communal services have been working, dismantling the remains of barricades made of benches, trash cans, electric scooters and other objects.
