Fidan said Hamas's politburo did not move to Turkey

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan denied allegations that the Politburo of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas moved from Qatar to Turkey. “We have already refuted these rumors. Qatar also denied such allegations. The Hamas Politburo did not move to Turkey,” Fidan quotes as sayingTV channelTRT Haber.

Turkish authorities have previously repeatedly reported that Hamas representatives periodically visit the republic, but allegations that the movement’s Politburo has been relocated to the country are untrue.

The Times of Israel previously reported, citing an unnamed Arab diplomat, that senior Hamas officials left Qatar for Turkey after Doha announced it was suspending mediation in the Gaza talks. On November 9, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari said that the country's leadership had decided to suspend mediation efforts aimed at a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip due to the lack of commitment on the part of the parties to the conflict to end it. However, he denied information about the closure of the Hamas Politburo office in Doha.

Hamas's political office has operated in Qatar since 2012, when the movement's leadership was forced to leave its headquarters in Damascus due to the civil war in Syria. Qatar provided political asylum to Hamas leaders, becoming a platform for the movement's representation abroad.
