Ukraine has asked the US for air defense systems capable of hitting ballistic missiles

Kyiv is negotiating with Washington on the supply of weapons capable of hitting intercontinental ballistic missiles, reports Ukrinform, citing sources in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Among the systems in question are upgraded versions of the Patriot air defense system and Aegis combat systems, similar to those already deployed at a US naval base in Poland.

Sources of the news agency called Russia's latest strike on the Dnieper with the use of an intercontinental ballistic missile a demonstrative move. The main goal of such an attack is to scare and show Moscow's determination. At the same time, according to the interlocutors, Russia has only a limited number of such missiles.
