Komitas conquered the world with his music. virtuoso violinist Ara Malikyan dedicates the Yerevan concert to the 155th anniversary of Vardapet

Ara Malikyan, one of the best violinists in the world, dedicates his concert in Yerevan, which will be held on June 3 at the sports concert complex named after Karen Demirchyan, to the 155th anniversary of Komitas.
According to "Armenpress", the artist visited the Komitas Museum-Institute before the concert, toured the museum, familiarized himself with the exhibits and admitted that he thought he knew both the biography and the music of Komitas quite well, but it turned out that there is still a lot to be learned. Malikyan was born in Lebanon, but he has been living and creating in Spain for more than twenty years, he regularly comes to his homeland, but it was the first time at the Vardapet Museum-Institute: "I am very excited. here they are doing patriotic work, which is encouraging. I often perform Komitas' works. Komitas was not included in the program of the concert in Yerevan, but after this visit I can't help but play," noted the violinist.
According to him, Komitas has traveled a lot, but his music is very Armenian, very popular. "Komitas was a clever inventor and was able to conquer the world with his music. Wherever I am, in Europe, America, Latin countries, when I perform Komitas, I feel that it reaches the hearts of the audience," Malikyan noted and added that he is dedicating his Yerevan concert to the 155th anniversary of Vardapet. Malikyan performed on the Yerevan stage for the first time. In October 2023, giving unforgettable emotions to the audience. Speaking earlier about The Ara Malikian World Tour, within the framework of which the Yerevan concert is being held, the violinist noted: "When I saw how my son took his first steps after months of falls, failed attempts and efforts, I realized that we all once had that strength, which was gradually forgotten. Children are tender, they are not afraid to make mistakes, they are free and expressive. When you look at a child, you realize who you were, how long you have deprived yourself of being like that. This tour was born as a result of my observations, when I watched how my son grows up, how I grow up with him. Here are the sounds and melodies that express my feelings and inspired me through my child. The tour is full of dinosaurs, robot squid, time machines, flying pianos and bilingual mimosas. This is the album that I had forgotten about, but which has a powerful influence. It's amazing to discover their charm and appeal every day."

On the stage with Malikyan there will be musicians with whom the violinist has traveled a long way and performed on prestigious stages of the world. They are pianist Ivan "Melon" Lewis, double bassist Ivan Ruiz Machado, drummer Georvis Pico Milan, guitarist Dayan Abad. After Armenia, Malikyan will return to Spain, and then continue the tour in Portugal, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico. Ara Malikyan was born in Lebanon, however, he lives and works in Spain for many years. His talent was discovered at an early age, despite the fact that he had to live and study in bomb shelters for a long time during the Lebanese civil war. Malikyan's first big concert took place at the age of 12, and two years later, with the mediation of the conductor Hans Herbert Joris, he received a scholarship from the German government to study at the Hannover Higher School of Music and Theater. Malikyan continued his education at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and also took lessons from world-famous professors. In 2015, in cooperation with the Royal Theater of Madrid, he re-released his album dedicated to the 15th anniversary of settling in Spain. One of Malikyan's major tours in recent years is "15", which was a great success among the public and critics, with more than 175,000 spectators and more. than 150 concerts.
