Tehran is ready for a dialogue with Europe, and European countries should cancel the sanctions against Iran, the country's foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, said in an interview with the reporter of the German magazine Der Spiegel.
"I am ready for a dialogue with Europeans about Russia. Let's have a dialogue and leave the sanctions aside. They never helped to solve the problem with Iran. My statement is this. forget the sanctions. They didn't work before and they won't work now," said Araqchi. In 2015, Great Britain, Germany, China, Russia, the United States, France and Iran signed a nuclear agreement, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which included sanctions. In exchange for restrictions on Iran's nuclear program, the United States withdrew from the JCPOA in May 2018 under President Donald Trump, and sanctions against Tehran were reinstated. In response, Iran announced a phased reduction of its obligations under the agreement.
