"Fact" daily writes:
Karen Hakobyan, the director of the "Makur Yeron" factory, has been in prison for almost two months, as her legal team notes, without any legal grounds.
The decision of Judge Sargis Dadoyan of the Anti-Corruption Court was appealed in the order of re-examination on the grounds that the decision was "obviously unreasonable and illegal", but the appeal was rejected.
Disagreeing with that decision, the lawyers filed a cassation appeal, the decision of which is still unknown.
According to our information, during this period, Karen Hakobyan's legal team has applied several times to law enforcement agencies with petitions to perform investigative and procedural actions, but no action has been taken with the participation of Karen Hakobyan, who has been in custody for almost two months.
A natural question may arise as to what is the reason why a businessman who has never been offended before, who voluntarily presented himself to an investigative body, should continue to be detained in 2024 in a criminal case initiated in 2019.
Incidentally, it should also be noted that the lawyers had requested a combination of high bail and house arrest instead of detention, but this was denied, again without any reasonable justification.
In the conversation with us, Hakobyan's lawyers state that, in the end, as a justification for the reform of the criminal procedure legislation, the main thing that was presented was that it would contribute to the reduction of the use of detention, that the courts would really consider other measures of disruption, but it is a fact that in the case of businessman Karen Hakobyan, it is true it's the opposite.
