On the night of July 30, the US military used one of its most powerful non-nuclear bombs to hit a residential house on the Iranian island of Qeshm, killing three people. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT), TASS reports.
As noted, the diameter of the funnel and the munitions fragments indicate the use of a heavy 2,000 lb (about 907 kg) MK-84 aerial bomb. The newspaper emphasizes that it was not possible to find any evidence of the presence of military objects next to the residential house. The strike was carried out in a densely populated region, adds the periodical.
Captain Tim Hawkins, a representative of the US Central Command, told The New York Times that the American military leadership is aware of the strike and is studying the received data. He also stated that the USA does not attack civilians.
