Saxon Switzerland National Park in Germany has been closed after a deadly storm

The famous national park "Saxon Switzerland" in the east of Germany has been closed to visitors. Such a decision is related to the strong storm that caused human casualties and serious destruction, reports DPA.

According to the authorities, a 28-year-old man died due to the raging weather. A tree fell on him near the "Felsenbuene" open-air theater in the city of Ratten. Ten more people were injured, three of them are in serious condition. About 40 people were evacuated.

Due to the large number of fallen trees and the remaining danger, the areas around the famous Bastai rock complex, as well as the sections between the settlements of Ratten, Honstein and the Polenzthal valley, have been closed.

Saxon Switzerland National Park is located on the border with the Czech Republic in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and is famous for its extraordinary rock formations. Its main attraction is the Bastai Bridge, which connects the sandstone cliffs about 200 meters above the Elbe River.

On the morning of August 2, emergency services continued cleaning the area and eliminating the effects of the storm.
