The U.S. Treasury Department has issued a license that allows transactions necessary to cease operations with individuals and vessels included in the sanctions list against Iran until September 12. The US previously expanded sanctions against Iran to include Iranian and Russian Ali Rahbarmadani on the list, according to a Treasury Department document. A total of 10 persons, 24 companies and 20 ships were added to the sanctions list.
"Except as provided in clause (b) of this general license, all transactions prohibited by Executive Order 13902 that are generally incidental to and necessary for one or more of the following activities involving specified persons are permitted until September 12, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (7:01 a.m. Moscow time)," the license states.
Permitted actions include curtailing financial transactions involving sanctioned persons or vessels, safe anchoring and access to any port other than Iranian and Russian ports, ensuring the health and safety of crews of sanctioned vessels, and emergency repairs and measures to prevent environmental damage.
