Turkish prosecutors have demanded a life sentence for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was arrested in absentia on charges of genocide and a number of other crimes, Hürriyet newspaper reported on Saturday.
In November 2025, the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 34 other high-ranking Israeli officials on charges of genocide, mass bombing of the Gaza Strip, and obstruction of humanitarian aid.
"The prosecution sent an indictment to Istanbul's 10th Court of Serious Criminal Cases, demanding life imprisonment and 1,102 to 4,596 years in prison for 35 defendants, including Netanyahu, Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz, his predecessor Yoav Galant, and other high-ranking officials," the newspaper reported.
According to the publication, the officials are accused of crimes against humanity, genocide, imprisonment, ill-treatment, causing damage, robbery and confiscation of vehicles.
