According to Babar Baloch, a spokesman for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), one in five Lebanese residents, or more than 1 million people, have been forced to flee their homes due to Israeli strikes.
"Currently, more than 1 million people in Lebanon have been displaced due to the escalation of the conflict in the region and in Lebanon," he said in an interview with the Turkish "Anadolu" agency. Baloch added that one in five "is considered displaced, many of them are in despair".
According to the representative of the UN, the humanitarian situation in Lebanon is "deteriorating day by day". He added that over the past month, 200,000 people have left Lebanon for neighboring Syria, including 180,000 Syrian refugees and 20,000 Lebanese citizens. About 7,000 people cross the border every day.
At the end of March, the Ministry of Health of Lebanon reported that the number of victims as a result of Israeli strikes was 1,268.
