Telegraph. The US has proposed putting the Strait of Hormuz under international control

The administration of US President Donald Trump has proposed to transfer control of the Strait of Hormuz to an international consortium. This was reported by The Daily Telegraph, referring to diplomatic sources.

According to these sources, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio presented the initiative during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7). He noted that navigation through the Strait of Hormuz should be free and without fees.

An alternative plan involving Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia is also being discussed, which would introduce transit tolls similar to those imposed on the Suez Canal.
