Araghchi. Iran is ready to allow the passage of Japanese ships through the Strait of Hormuz

Tehran is ready to allow the passage of ships bound for Japan through the Strait of Hormuz after appropriate consultations with Tokyo, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with Kyodo news agency.  "We have not closed the strait. It is open," the foreign minister said.

The agency reported, without citing him, that consultations with Tokyo have begun regarding the passage of ships related to Japan through the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, Iranian officials warned that they would not allow any oil cargo belonging to the United States and its allies to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The spokesperson of the Central Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Iran noted that Tehran will resort to any necessary means, including controlling the traffic of ships in the Strait of Hormuz, in order to force the enemy to surrender.

According to data from Lloyd's List Intelligence, as of March 18, about 90 ships connected to Greece, Iran and China have passed through the strait.
