The new tariffs set by US President Donald Trump will come into effect on February 24 and will remain in effect for 150 days, the White House announced.
Earlier, Trump announced that he signed an executive order that imposes 10% import tariffs on all countries of the world. “This executive order imposes a 10% ad valorem import tariff on goods entering the United States for 150 days.
The temporary import tariff will go into effect on February 24 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (8:01 a.m. Moscow time), the White House said in a statement.
The US Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the Emergency Economic Powers Act, which Trump has used to impose tariffs on imports, prevents him from doing so. The US president called the court's decision shameful and noted that he has a backup plan.
