The hostilities in Ukraine will end only when one of the sides is completely exhausted, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated in an interview with the German newspaper "Rheinpfalz".
"In my estimation, this war will end only when one of the two sides is exhausted, either militarily or economically," the chancellor said.
Mertz also emphasized his mistrust of the ongoing peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. The politician added that he does not expect a quick solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
