Italy will not make exceptions for visas for accompanying Russian Paralympic athletes, the source of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs told RIA Novosti.
"There will be no exceptions regarding visas for accompanying persons.
The usual restrictions for accompanying persons apply," said the source. He replied to the request for clarification that there is no mention of a ban or a simplified regime for issuing visas.
"Repubblica" newspaper reported on Thursday that Italy's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, following the protests in Kiev, proposed to refrain from issuing visas to those accompanying Russian athletes in the upcoming Paralympic Games.
