Denmark has appealed to NATO to prioritize the Arctic, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said.
"We asked NATO to give priority to the Arctic region, and we received support in this matter. Now we will continue to discuss how it will be perceived in reality," said Frederiksen, the Danish TV2 channel reports.
Greenland is included in the Kingdom of Denmark. However, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that the island should become part of the US.
The authorities of Denmark and Greenland have warned Washington against attempts to occupy the island, stressing that they expect respect for their territorial integrity.
