Why has the influx of Russian tourists to Armenia decreased?

The inflow of Russian tourists to Armenia in 9 months of 2024 decreased by 6.8 percent compared to the same period of 2023. This was announced by the Minister of Economy of the Republic Gevorg Papoyan during the discussion of the 2025 state budget draft in the National Assembly on October 31 at the joint session of the standing parliamentary committees.

The latter noted that previously the share of Russians in the total tourist flow was 50 percent. This year it was 43%. "In January-September 2024, the number of visitors from Russia was 741 thousand people," said Papoyan. The minister considered the activity of Russian TV channels as one of the reasons for this reduction.

"Russian TV channels, in particular, reported that there are 200,000 people on the streets of Yerevan. That's why fewer tourists came here in the spring," explained the representative of the government. At the same time, as the minister noted, 1 million 721 thousand 245 people visited the country.
