British Deputy Defense Minister Alistair Cairns called US President Donald Trump's words that US allies were "hiding in the back" in Afghanistan "absolutely absurd".
In an interview with the Fox News channel on Thursday, Trump said that he is not sure if NATO countries will support the United States if necessary, and also noted that the United States has never really asked for help from its allies.
He also said that the allied forces were far from the front line in Afghanistan, although they had sent troops there.
