The court of first instance has sentenced the former Prime Minister of the Republic of South Korea, Han Deok Su, to 23 years in prison in the case of rebellion against the constitutional order, which is related to the introduction of martial law in 2024. Han Deok-soo has been accused of participating in the rebellion as one of the key figures, as well as of supporting the leader of the conspirators, which refers to former President Yun Seok-yeol. The prosecutor's office demanded a 15-year prison sentence for him.
In December 2024, Yoon Seok Yeol declared martial law in violation of the constitution, as a result of which he was later removed from power. At that time, Han Deok-soo held the position of Prime Minister, and then temporarily performed the duties of the President of the Republic of Korea.
