Official Paris has taken a drastic diplomatic step against Washington. Reuters reports that it has decided to withdraw from the new international body chaired by the United States, the Peace Council. A source close to French President Emmanuel Macron reports that the French leadership does not plan to accept the invitation of US President Donald Trump.
"France intends to reject Trump's invitation to join the Peace Council at this stage," the source said.
Paris emphasizes that the American leader's initiative "raises serious questions about the role of the United Nations", which, according to the French side, "cannot be questioned" as the main guarantor of international law.
