Kobakhidze held a meeting with Orban in Tbilisi

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Tbilisi. The two leaders discussed relations between Georgia and Hungary and issues of cooperation in various fields, the Public Broadcasting Company of Georgia reports. Hungary presides over the Council of the European Union this year, and during Orbán's visit, the importance of Prime Minister Orbán's visit during Hungary's presidency was emphasized. It was noted that this confirms Hungary's support for Georgia's priorities.

Kobakhidze emphasized that integration into the European Union is one of the main priorities of Georgia's foreign policy.  He thanked Viktor Orbán for his support on the way to European integration and noted that Hungary played a special role in the process of Georgia's obtaining candidate status.

After the face-to-face meeting, the negotiations continued with an expanded composition. Specific cooperation initiatives in various fields were discussed, including issues of further expansion of trade and economic ties. In the joint briefing held after the negotiations, Orban expressed confidence that Georgia will become a member of the European Union.

The delegation headed by the Prime Minister of Hungary includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó, the Minister of Economic Development of Hungary Marton Nadi, the Minister of Finance Mihai Varga and the Secretary of State Janos Mate. Earlier, Orbán announced that he came to Georgia to support Georgia's European integration efforts and to strengthen Hungarian-Egyptian relations. .
