Foreign delegations participate in the funeral of Iranian President Raisi in Mashhad


Diplomats from foreign diplomatic missions, as well as a number of officials from Iran's neighboring countries, arrived in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad to attend the funeral ceremony of President Ebrahim Raisi. In addition to the chief consuls and heads of foreign diplomatic missions located in Mashhad, officials from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia are participating in the funeral in Raisi's hometown.
The body of the Iranian president, who died in a plane crash, was brought to his native Mashhad on May 23. he will be laid to rest in the mausoleum of Imam Reza.
On May 19, the helicopter of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi crashed while landing in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, when he was returning with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and other officials from the opening ceremony of the reservoir on the border between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan. None of those in the destroyed helicopter survived. A 5-day mourning period has been announced in Iran.
