Vance called for maintaining the presence of God and the church in American society

US Vice President J.D. Vance called on Americans to preserve the presence of God and the church in American society and spoke against the absolute secularism of society.

"For us, there is one important principle that should be remembered. we must not completely eliminate God from the public sphere, as has been done in modern America. This is not what the Founding Fathers wanted, this is bad for the United States. And anyone who tells you the Constitution requires that is lying," he said at an event at the University of Mississippi organized by Turning Point USA, a nonprofit founded by American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who died in September.

Vance emphasized that the first amendment of the US Constitution does not speak about the separation of church and state, but only prohibits the US Congress from supporting any specific religion.

According to the US vice president, the Supreme Court interprets the First Amendment in a way that allows governments to eliminate the influence of the church everywhere, guided by the principles of religious neutrality. "I think it's a terrible mistake, and we're still paying the consequences," Vance added.
