Israel has rejected the American proposal for negotiations with Lebanon, which could lead to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied Lebanese territories and the start of the border demarcation process, Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Beri told "Asharq al-Awsat".
"The proposal of the Lebanese-Israeli negotiation path was removed from the agenda due to Tel Aviv's rejection of the American initiative in this matter," Berry told the publication.
According to a Lebanese politician, the US special representative for Syria, Thomas Barak, informed Lebanon about Israel's rejection of the American offer.
It provided for the start of a negotiation process between the countries, while at the same time stopping Israel's attacks on Lebanon for two months.
