"Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I sent Archbishop Sargsyan of Shah to Armenia to hold negotiations with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The leader of the "Our way" movement announced that they came to negotiate with the Prime Minister so that he would stop the pressure and the action to dethrone the Catholicos. This information was spread after the photos of the meetings between the Prime Minister and the President of RA were published by the Government.
According to the information of "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper, there is concern within the Armenian Apostolic Church regarding the fact that Catholicos of Cilicia Aram I does not seem to be making sufficient efforts to prevent the pressures against Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. It is noted that at the moment three diocesan leaders are under arrest in the Republic of Armenia: Archbishops Mikael and Bagrat, as well as Bishop Proshyan.
In short, according to church sources, the Catholicosate of the House of Cilicia seems to have remained somewhat distant from the struggle against the repressions carried out by the Catholicos of All Armenians, Nikol Pashinyan, due to the long-standing disagreements between the parties.
Against this background, it is noteworthy that Pashinyan received a warm welcome in the Catholic church yesterday. received communion, lit a candle, met with the Pope."
