An unattractive risk factor of cancer has been found

The obesity has long been recognized as a risk factor of a number of cancers. However, a new analysis conducted by British researchers has shown that not only the total body weight, but also the place of body fat accumulation. The study was published in the National Cancer Institute (JNCI).

Researchers have studied the connection between fat distribution and obesity of 12 cancer risk, from colon and pancreas to cancer to breast and endometrium cancer.

The analysis applied Mendelyan randomization, a statistical approach that uses natural genetic fluctuations and large medical databases. This has allowed them to understand how the body can affect the likelihood of cancer development.

It turned out that the distribution of fat affects the risk, but in different ways, depending on the type of cancer. In some cases, the total volume of fat tissue was the main, in others, and the deployment of it, and the two factors are important for some of the types of malignant tumors. Moreover, the "danger zones" of fat are different for different forms of the disease, which makes the image extremely complicated.

"Our results confirm that the body's mass index, although it is useful to assess the levels of population levels, is very simplified for diagnosis of individual risks. There are universal strategies for cancer prevention for obesity. A more personalized approach is needed, "explained the author of the study Emma Heelywood.

According to researchers, understand which specific fat "warehouses" causes different types of tumors, it will help to determine risk groups more accurately and customize obesity prevention and treatment methods.

"It is important to understand the biological mechanisms underlying these connections and how they affect the diet, lifestyle and new drug approaches," said Heelyzud.
