German Foreign Minister Johan Vadeful has sharply criticized Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip and called for talks on the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the creation of two countries.
"People in all Gaza live in hell on earth," Der Spiegel quoted the minister.
"This long-term conflict cannot be resolved through terrorism, destruction and death," he said during a visit to New York.
Vadephul told reporters that Israel's "offensive action in Gaza is absolutely wrong."
He also criticized Israel's actions on the West Bank. "Any step taken in the direction of illegal Anexia of the occupied territories undermines the long-term settlement of the conflict," said the German Foreign Minister.
