The President of Georgia pardoned the leaders of the two opposition party

Georgian President Mikheil Kavellashvili has pardoned the leaders of the opposition "Powerful Georgia-Lelo" party Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze. He wrote about this on Facebook.

"In order for no one to believe that local self-government elections are held in the face of limited competition, I have decided to pardon two prisoners, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze," Kavarkvili's statement said.

According to the President, the process of registering the electoral entities of the municipal elections to be held on October 4 ended a day before. Among the registered parties is one whose leaders are punishable by "Powerful Georgia-Lelo".

At the same time, Kavelashvili writes that the elections "should not become a pleasure for a politician who committed a crime."
