US Vice President and candidate for the post of head of state Kamala Harris said that she is not ready for a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine without the participation of Kyiv. “Bilaterally without Ukraine? No,” she said in an interview with CBS News in response to the question of readiness for a bilateral meeting with Putin to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Harris also said that the question of Ukraine's possible membership in NATO will be decided “if and when” the time comes for this.
Harris' main rival, former US President and Republican candidate in the upcoming elections, Donald Trump, in turn, has repeatedly criticized the current presidential administration for refusing negotiations with Russia to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. The Republican has repeatedly stated his readiness to meet with Vladimir Putin and assured of his ability to end the conflict even before a potential inauguration. Moreover, after the terrorist attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Kursk region, Vladimir Putin called negotiations with those who attack civilians and civilian infrastructure or are trying to create threats to nuclear energy facilities. Assistant to the Russian President Yuri Ushakov later said that Moscow’s peace proposals for a Ukrainian settlement, previously voiced by Putin, have not been canceled, but for now she will not talk to Kiev.
