The Palestinian radical Hamas movement must never again be allowed to take power in the Gaza Strip. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this in a telephone conversation with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, TASS reports.
“The Secretary and the President also discussed the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the importance of Hamas releasing all hostages, including American citizens,” the State Department said in a statement.
“The Secretary thanked the President for the humanitarian assistance provided by the UAE to Gaza and stressed the need to ensure that Hamas can never again rule Gaza or threaten Israel. They also expressed their support for a cessation of hostilities in Lebanon,” the document says.
