French President Emmanuel Macron has said that US President Donald Trump's initiative on long-term ownership of the Gaza Strip is unacceptable to Paris.
"Gaza is not a desert, but a country where two million people live and want to stay," Macron said in an interview with CNN.
According to him, it is necessary to find a political solution for the Gaza Strip that "respects the desire of the Palestinian people to have their own state."
He also called for respect for the sovereignty of Egypt and Jordan. On February 4, Trump announced at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after talks at the White House that Washington is considering long-term ownership of the Gaza Strip in order to develop it for the benefit of peace in the Middle East.
