The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been heavily involved in influencing elections. This was stated on Tuesday by the head of the Department of Government Efficiency Elon Musk, reports TASS.
“A huge part of what USAID has done has been aimed at influencing elections, in questionable ways of influencing elections that have not stood up to scrutiny,” he said, speaking to reporters at the White House alongside US President Donald Trump.
He did not elaborate or specify which countries’ elections he was referring to. Speaking about USAID’s work, Musk emphasized: “In terms of return on investment, I would say that overall it has not always been good.”
Trump said that the agency is “incompetent and very corrupt.”
