"We are discussing the issue of deporting the leaders of Hamas." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this in an interview with American journalist Dan Sinor.
"We hope that the enclave will be managed by the local residents who have no connection with Hamas, together with the official representatives of the countries of the region. They ask us what we will do tomorrow. First of all, it is necessary to eliminate Hamas. The people of Gaza cannot be allowed to rule the territory as long as Hamas is there," Netanyahu said.
He also noted that the country's army is facing challenges that "no modern army has faced before".
"We have to defend ourselves with our forces. We are not asking this of American soldiers or anyone else. We will destroy Hamas. Our second goal is to return the hostages, and that is why we are applying military pressure," Netanyahu concluded.
