The policies of the new US administration regarding foreign trade and taxes and tariffs with China may have a negative impact on Turkey and the regional market. Dünya economic publication expresses a similar opinion.
US President-elect Donald Trump previously announced that he may raise tariffs on imports from China to 50% and to 20% on all other imports.
The publication notes that, most likely, in such a situation, "American companies will reorganize their supply chains around countries that have lower tariffs."
At the same time, there is a danger that Europe will respond to the high tariffs of the USA, and some kind of anti-American trade block will be created. But the threat remains that China will divert products not sold in the US to other markets, including Turkey, dumping aggressively and putting serious competitive pressure on local economies.
Trump's fiscal policy, as Dnya writes, also contains risks for a number of countries, including Turkey.
