Israel releases 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of deal with Hamas

Israel has released 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of an agreement with the radical Hamas movement to release hostages and introduce a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This is reported by The Jerusalem Post newspaper.

According to the Israeli Prisons Department, Palestinian prisoners were released in exchange for three Israeli hostages released on January 19.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office had earlier confirmed the release of the hostages. The women held for 470 days in the Gaza Strip are Romi Gonen (24 years old), Emily Damari (28 years old) and Doron Steinbrecher (31 years old).

They were welcomed by the Israeli military and escorted to the territory of Israel.
