There were plans to divide Syria into three parts, but those plans failed, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. "RIA Novosti" informs about this.
According to him, Ankara highly appreciates the efforts of the new Syrian authorities to ensure the political and territorial integrity of the country.
Erdogan did not specify who developed such plans.
The Turkish president also noted that Ankara welcomes the voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, but refrains from forcing Syrian citizens to return.
