The troops will be withdrawn by the end of January

The withdrawal of Israeli troops and the deployment of the Lebanese army on the joint border will open a new chapter in peace.

As reported by "Armenpress", this was announced by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, who held talks with the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, in Beirut.

"We will do everything possible to ensure the safe withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon by January 27, the deadline set by the ceasefire agreement," Guterres said, expressing his readiness to mobilize the international community to provide all kinds of support to Lebanon.

The Secretary General of the United Nations congratulated President Aouni on his election as the head of the republic and expressed his solidarity with the severely affected people of Lebanon. According to him, the future government of the republic has a unique opportunity to strengthen state institutions and work towards the revival of the country.

"I know that the Lebanese have great endurance and great courage, and I believe that they will be able to make Lebanon the vital center of the Middle East again," he emphasized.
