NATO Secretary General predicts war in Ukraine to last ten years

European and NATO countries should prepare to drag out the war in Ukraine for the next ten years, North Atlantic Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said."But the main point here is that the more we support Ukraine and the longer we are prepared to support it, the sooner the war can end. The paradox is that President Putin now thinks he can out-sit us. That's why the war continues,“ Stoltenberg told the BBC.According to him, if Ukraine's allies make it clear that they will support Kyiv for a long time, they will create conditions for Ukraine to prevail as a sovereign independent state.Stoltenberg also warned European countries against “self-fulfilling prophecies” that Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election would lead to the end of the alliance and the end of transatlantic ties. He urged alliance leaders to engage with Trump in the same way they did in 2016 when he first became president. At the same time, they should not pay attention to his rhetoric during the election campaign.
