On the evening of January 4, a new wave of mass protests broke out in Israeli cities, the largest of which traditionally took place in Tel Aviv. The police detained five people for violating the public order.

For almost a year, mass demonstrations have been taking place in Israel every Saturday. The participants demand the country's government to immediately release the hostages held in the Gaza Strip, who were captured on October 7, 2023, during the attack by the armed radicals of the Palestinian Hamas movement.

According to the latest information from the Israeli side, 100 Israelis are still being held hostage.
