President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev noted the uniqueness of the SCO during the meeting with the General Secretary of this organization Nurlan Yermekbaev. This was reported by the press service of the head of Kazakhstan.
"The President was informed about the current activities of the SCO and the priority areas of cooperation, noting the uniqueness of the organization, highly appreciating its huge potential in the political, economic and cultural spheres of interaction, which is devoted to the problems of ensuring regional and global security," the message said.
According to the press service, Tokayev emphasized the importance of further improvement of the organization's activities, activation of relations with international associations, as well as the SCO initiative "On Global Unity for Just Peace, Harmony and Development" put forward by Kazakhstan.
Ermekbaev, according to the decision of the Council of Heads of State of the organization, assumed the post of General Secretary of the SCO from January 1.
