We believe that a change of power can be achieved through a street struggle, the culmination of which will be a vote of no confidence in Pashinyan, and that process does not seem like a simple matter, considering the processes within the governing party.
Hayk Mamijanyan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia and an opposition deputy, said this during a meeting with journalists on December 26. According to his assessment, the opposition cannot implement a change of power without the support of the masses. He admitted that the opposition has not achieved its goal, because Pashinyan is still in power. At the same time, the politician called to take into account that each subsequent stage of the struggle was more crowded and closer to its goal than the previous one.
During the protests of the "For the Motherland" movement, Yerevan Republic Square was more crowded than in 2018, after the resignation of Serzh Sargsyan. However, it was not possible to achieve a change of power, there are both objective and subjective reasons, which we should discuss with our colleagues in order to avoid mistakes in the future.
As for the events of June 12, it is noteworthy that Pashinyan says on every occasion that he is not ready to de-occupy the territories of Jermuk by military means, but he is ready to use weapons against peaceful demonstrators, Armenians. Special measures have been applied against citizens so that they do not cross from one street to another," the deputy reminded, calling the response of the international community to these events disproportionate.
Mamijanyan assured that the goal of RPA's daily work is to achieve a change of power, and there is no other political agenda, because Armenia's security depends on it. He is convinced that in order to hold new elections, Pashinyan needs the signature or autograph of the President of Azerbaijan Aliyev under some paper.
It is this autograph that Pashinyan is chasing now. At the same time, the deputy doubts that the authorities will go to early elections, calling the prediction of the actions of the authorities a thankless task.
