Israel carried out an airstrike on Lebanon for the first time after the establishment of a ceasefire

On Thursday, the Israeli military carried out an airstrike in southern Lebanon, where the Israeli army found signs of activity by the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.

"Some time ago, terrorist activity was detected in a facility intended for the storage of medium-range missiles by "Hezbollah" in southern Lebanon. The strike of the Israeli Air Force prevented the threat," said the statement of the Israel Defense Forces, which was published on Telegram.

The Israel Defense Forces noted that the Israeli army "maintains its presence in southern Lebanon and is taking measures to suppress violations of the ceasefire agreement."

Lebanon's LBCI television and radio channel, citing a statement from the Lebanese army, reported that Israel "violated the agreement several times" on Wednesday and Thursday. According to the Lebanese military, these violations include "airstrikes as well as attacks on Lebanese territory using various types of weapons."

Earlier on Thursday, soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces opened fire near the village of Markaba in the south of Lebanon, as a result of which two people were injured. According to the Israel Defense Forces, "a group of suspicious persons arrived by car in the closed zone of southern Lebanon and violated the terms of the ceasefire." After that, the Israeli military opened fire in their direction.

The Israeli army and Hezbollah stopped hostilities on November 27. The parties have agreed that the Lebanese army will regain control over the territories bordering Israel, and Hezbollah forces will withdraw approximately 40 km from the Israeli-Lebanese border.

At the same time, the Israeli military warned that in case of danger, they reserve the right to open fire on the positions of the alleged "Hezbollah".
