At its session today, November 28, the government made a decision to establish an embassy of Armenia in Hungary.
The justification states that on December 1, 2022, in Lodz, within the framework of the OSCE Ministerial Forum, the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Hungary, Ararat Mirzoyan and Peter Siyarto, took place, during which an agreement was reached to restore full diplomatic relations.
After the restoration of diplomatic relations, an active political dialogue is underway between the two countries, there is a multi-sector bilateral agenda, which was highlighted by mutual visits of high-ranking officials and meetings on multilateral platforms at the level of presidents and foreign ministers.
Hungary is of great importance for Armenia as an EU member state.
The framework of Armenian-Hungarian cooperation includes political, trade-economic, inter-parliamentary, other areas of mutual interest, effective cooperation implemented within the framework of support programs, professional skills strengthening and educational programs.
Armenian-Hungarian cooperation has a great development potential also within the framework of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement and the Eastern Partnership.
The Armenian community of Hungary also plays an important role in bilateral relations.
2024 On May 6, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan made a return visit to Hungary at the invitation of Minister Sijarto, during which an agreement was reached on the mutual opening of embassies in the capitals.
